On the 12th of September our school took part in the North Liverpool girls football league. It was at Jericho lane, from 1 pm until 3 pm. Sadly I'm out injured at the moment but I tagged for a pitch side report. The first game was Monksdown V Lister. It was a good game with great saves, amazing press and good tackles. It finished 0-0 which gave us one point. The next game was against Barlows. This game was full of consistency and power. No one gave up and we played really well. Both teams had a solid defence and were strong all the way through. Again finishing 0-0 which puts us in the middle of our league table. We will be back in a few weeks for the next stage of the league... hopefully I'll be back playing next time.
Wednesday 20th August
I went to the Shakespeare North Playhouse to watch a one woman production called The Pirate Princess. It was so funny and amazing to watch as a family! I loved the fact there was limited dialogue and when she spoke she used a sign so everyone could understand. One of the best parts about it is that they used audience participation, I got to go up to the stage and play limbo with the actress! Overall it was an amazing show and I would love to watch it again!
Wednesday 30th July - Liverpool College Sports Centre
I went to the final group games of the T10 Tape ball World cup. This was the first time I had ever heard of or watched tape ball so I didn't know what to expect. The rules are 8 players per side, 8 overs per side, and 5 balls per over. The ball is simply a tennis ball covered in special coloured tape. I first watched Pakistan V Sri Lanka which was a fun and lively game. Sri Lanka beat Pakistan which meant they were top of their group. We then watched Ireland V India which was the game we mainly came to watch. We were supporting Ireland as my teacher was playing for them. He got a 6 which was good before he got caught out. Thankfully Ireland won so they are through to the final on Sunday. It reminded me of the World Sevens football that was on this summer, very relaxed and lots of music when people got 4 or 6's. It was great fun and I would definitely go again.
Sunday 27th July 2025 - 5pm Kick off - Spain V England
First, the closing ceremony. It was bright, colourful and was engaging the crowd to join in the dancing and celebrate how far their team has come. Then it was kick off. We played fairly well in the first half we just missed a few chances that were frustrating. Spain came in with strong tackles and dominated possession but then, at 25 minutes in Mariona Caldentey scored taking the lead in the Womens Euros final.
Not long before half time (40mins) Lauren James sadly had to be subbed off due to an injury. She hadn't looked comfortable for a while and we need everyone at 100% in a final. Chloe Kelly came on for her which was her first time seeing the first half all tournament.
At half time I think that Sarina had a word with the lionesses and told them something along the lines of "Keep up the hard work and press as much as possible," Whatever she said obviously worked as in the second half we came on as a completely different team. We were not afraid to go in for tackles and tried to get the ball in the net more. The wait was over, at 57 minutes in Alessia Russo scores an amazing header to equalise. From then on it was back and forth between the two teams both battling strong. After an agonising 120 minutes it got to penalties. Not only are penalties stressful they put pressure on the players. Hannah Hampton made some sensational saves and the team took some passionate penalties until it got down to the penalty which would decide whether the penalties would carry on or finish with England as back to back champions.
Up Chloe Kelly stepped. With hope in her heart, she did her iconic run up to the ball and smashed it into the net. All of the England fans jump up and celebrate, quite alot of them in tears. Chloe Kelly brought the Euros trophy home back again, where it belongs.
First, we headed over to the weighing room which is where the jockeys get ready before the races and make sure they are the right weight to race. It was really interesting! It is important that the jockeys are a certain weight because if not it could affect the horses safety as they have been prepared to carry certain weights.
Then, we got to check out some gear. I tried on a helmet and felt the saddle. After this we got to go to the parade ring, we measured how long it was in meters. We took a lunch break and we still had more activities to come. Before heading down to our next task we got a special visit from horse racing commentator, Simon Holt. He has done commentating for many competitions for example the Grand National and Chester races.
Following this, we walked back down to the parade ring, which was now full of horses, to do a very exciting job! Me and my classmates got to choose which horse we thought looked most presentable. We decided on Captain Corelli. Finally, we watched the first race ( The 2:05) then got our things and headed back to school. We had an amazing day and learnt lots more about horses!
